Comments: My second title, and my first advanced title. I have always had this silly idea that nightmare was too difficult, and the legendary Steffen Winterfeldt did his amazing D1S title. Basically, this was like speedy gonzales except you actually have to care about what the monsters are doing. None of the levels I received were truly difficult, but one has to come up with the right tactics for each critical situation. E2M8- The only thing that threw me off was the fact that the lost souls were _really_ hyperactive. Just get rid of the first batch of them by the overgrown man-goat and your fine. E3M3- By far the hardest map done for this title. There are a number of ways to start it, but I just do the minimum and simply survive it. A rule of thumb playing nightmare is that the more you try to do, the more likely you're gonna screw up somewhere. Sloppy movement, but I was just glad to survive. E2M3- Pretty easy if you just take the quick way through. If the baron gets in your way, just get those mega-chompers mad at him. That'll keep him busy while you slip away. Oh yeah, make sure you go easy on that plasma. E4M4- Not much to this level. If it looks like I don't know where I'm going, it's because I was too hyped up on Jolt Cola to have any useful cognitive functions. E2M1- My free interpretation. This level undergoes a vast transformation when you bump up a skill. Each part is really dangerous if you don't have the right tactics and execute all of them well. Author info: Just another student hacker. Started playing DOOM way back when in December 1993 and quickly kicked the crap out of it with default keyboard keys. Sat on it for two years, and now only realizing it's appeal have started playing it again. I am a Wing Commander nut, so I love to play them all. When I started playing Descent I saw how much potential the 3D genre has for entertainment. With mouse and separate strafe keys, I play DOOM much better and therefore better enjoy pointing your gun at someone and shooting. Quake is fun in it's own right, but lacks the sheer 'zing' that makes it so playable. But as a C programmer and UNIX junkie, Quake's very superior in terms of customization.
